Proficiencies

I have a solid UNIX background, and have used Linux and the *BSD UNIX systems exclusively for the last decade on my workstations, servers, and small scale routers. I can't help you with your Windows systems.

My favorite distribution of Linux is Gentoo, but I also make use of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, FreeBSD, Darwin and OpenBSD.

I am very comfortable with the ways of Apache (1&2), Qmail, Vpopmail, and quite a few other friendly daemons

I have performed many security incident rescues for others, and have been fortunate enough to have never experienced a root level compromise on a system I was responsible for maintaining.

I am experienced with cryptographic software, crafting secure backup strategies, setting up redundant systems, dealing with diagnosing performance issues, basic networking issues, and everything else expected of the competent system administrator.

I am well versed in iptables on Linux as well

Availability

I am not available during the Christmas holidays, and for several weeks in the summer.

Work Habits

While I have solved thousands of problems over the years, there's a chance you may have one I can't fix.

My policy is like that of a doctor, the prime directive if you will is "do no harm"

I have developed excellent safety habits. For example, if a particular line of troubleshooting goes nowhere, I will always be able to put things back where they were originally to allow other means of diagnosis.

Your system will never be worse off for my having worked on it.
